How to Join Liberty Lodge No. 299

Membership requirements, process, and next steps.

Membership Requirements

Freemasonry is a fraternity built on character, integrity, and a sincere desire for personal growth and service to others. In California, membership is open to men age 18 or older who meet the qualifications and standards of character and intention, and who believe in a Supreme Being. Men of all ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.

One of Masonry’s customs is that membership is never solicited. Men who are interested must seek membership of their own free will, either through a Mason they know or by contacting a local lodge directly.

What to Expect

Joining Liberty Lodge No. 299 is a thoughtful process designed to help both the applicant and the lodge get to know one another. Freemasonry is not simply something a man signs up for. It is a lifelong commitment to personal improvement, moral values, fellowship, and service.

As part of the process, prospective members are encouraged to learn more about the fraternity, ask questions, and become familiar with the lodge before moving forward. This helps ensure that joining is the right decision and that the lodge is a good fit for the individual.

How the Process Works

If you are interested in membership, the first step is to contact Liberty Lodge No. 299 and schedule a visit. This gives you an opportunity to meet members of the lodge, learn more about Freemasonry, and ask any questions you may have about the process.

If you decide to proceed, a Mason who recommends you for membership will assist with completing and submitting the application at the appropriate time. After the application is submitted, members of the lodge will meet with you for an interview so they can learn more about you and you can continue learning more about the fraternity.

If the interview is favorable, your application is presented to the lodge for a vote. If the vote is affirmative, you will receive the Entered Apprentice degree, the first degree of Freemasonry. As you advance through the remaining degrees, you become a Master Mason and a full member of the fraternity.
